“This is a wonderful place in an amazing location. The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed cooking in the evening. The living room was also really cosy. The patio garden fantastic and we really enjoyed the access to the barn with the table tennis. We would definitely want to come back. This part of Cornwall is also absolutely gorgeous. A Wonderful place to escape!”
At Treveddoe, you have fantastic attractions and activities on your doorstep, with many more within easy reach. Here are some of our favourite things to do when we are at the farm…

ON THE FARM
ON THE DOORSTEP
We love to relax, and switch off, and especially to stay out of the car where we can. A walk over the moor, or down the farm to the river – perhaps enjoy a swim in the small pool there down a brambly path just after you go through the gate at the end of the meadow. A picnic in the garden, which is big enough for football, hide and seek, gym shows and sunbathing.
If it is raining we love a bit of table tennis/ football/hockey in the big barn, a wet walk on the moor then hot chocolate in front of a blazing fire and an old James Bond movie.
On any day you will find us enjoying sundowners on the terrace, watching the spectacular sunset down the valley, and bbqing on the terrace while playing cards or filling up our drinks.
We love the fresh air, the simplicity, the peace and the sheer beauty of the ancient woodland, moor, and views. It is fabulous biking area, and satisfactorily hilly – a great place to come for some triathlon training….and the moor is good for running, hiking and spotting shaggy local common grazed cows and moor ponies.
Our favourite day out
DAYMER BAY
50 MINUTES BY CAR
Just at the mouth of the Camel estuary, and around the corner from famous Polzeath, and opposite Padstow, Daymer Bay is one of our favourite beaches. Unless you want to have a powerful swim (in which case come half an hour either side of high tide – it is beautiful) Daymer is particularly good at low tide. We like to take a picnic and walk around the base of Brae hill and snuggle at the base of the sand dunes – often taking hockey sticks and/or footballs for beach sport, then walk back home over Brae Hill which you will have to do if the tide has come in. There are lots of trips you can do from Daymer – walk along the beach to Rock, take the ferry to Padstow, have lunch at Rick Stein’s Bistro (if you arrive at 2 you are very likely to get a table, you cannot reserve one), or go to Rick’s fish and chipper on the harbour. After lunch, back across the Camel estuary, walk back to the car park.
For a shorter version, park at Rock, take the ferry to Padstow…….or park at Daymer Bay, do the cliff walk to Polzeath, have a coffee/surf/lunch then walk back. As noted below dogs are welcome at Daymer but not at Polzeath. There is also a good fish shop in Rock as well as Fee’s food (frozen food) which is a great option if you don’t want to be cooking – ‘more beach, less kitchen’ is her motto.
Or…park at Daymer Bay, beach/hill walk to Rock to first café, stroll back via St Enodoc Church.
Our favourite beaches
FOR SURFING
- Polzeath
- Watergate Bay (including kitesurfing)
- Porthcothan – family friendly; great pasties at the village shop by the beach, lovely natural horseshoe shaped bay
SMALL-CHILDREN-FRIENDLY; SWIMMING EITHER SIDE OF HIGH TIDE
- Daymer Bay – perfect for swimming, especially just either side of high tide. Also great for rock pooling and walking over to the significantly more busy Polzeath. Dogs are welcome on Daymer but not Polzeath
- Lundy Bay and Epphaven are magical at low tide – you can swim between the two but please note there are no lifeguards here
GET AWAY FROM IT ALL
- For those with strong legs, Bedruthan Steps is possibly our favourite beach, but please know there are no life guards. But similarly there are very few people there..
- Lantic Bay – on the south coast for a touch of the Caribbean – park in the national trust car park and walk down a quite steep path. Boats do come and moor in the perfect bay here, too. If you want a good walk drive to Fowey, get the ferry over and walk the coastal path to Lantic. Don’t forget to take a picnic, strong legs and a towel
- Caerhays – for lovers of Polark this appears in the later books; there is a sweet beach with a beautiful castle above – it is very romantic in its setting and beauty. The castle is worth a look around and has a decent nursery garden.
Local Food
- Book in for dinner at Coombehead Farm – a brilliant field to fork experience with top chef and an admirable new approach to sustainability. This is only available Thursday to Sunday and booking ahead is advised
- The main supermarkets do deliver to the farm. The shop in St Neot has papers daily and some basic provisions. The pub in St Neot is worth a walk to for lunch and a pint.
- Every Friday there is the Village Greens in Mount. This is a fabulous local community shop as well as offering delicious breakfasts and coffee and teas. They have an excellent second hand bookstore too. We love going and it is always buzzing. The local veg tastes as if it has just been picked. Which it probably has.

“Magical location, surrounded by nature, from the large delightful garden you have wide views of the surroundings. The house is stylish, cosy and spacious, equipped with every comfort. We stayed here for 12 days with a group of friends and were able to cook together in the large, well-equipped kitchen.”
“We really enjoyed our stay at The Barley Crush. It’s very spacious and comfortable, particularly when there were just the 2 of us. The kitchen is well-equipped and the hot-water and heating systems excellent. Outside there’s a lovely little garden to sit and relax. The location is great if you like things remote and peaceful, with some good views nearby.”
